Monique Valenciano, a lifelong resident of Eagle Rock, passed away peacefully on April 10 at Huntington Memorial Hospital after a long battle with COVID-19. She was 48.

Monique was raised in her family home which is still owned by her aunt and uncle, Racquel and Rudy Zepeda. She attended Eagle Rock High School, earned an AA degree from Pasadena City College, and graduated from Mount St Mary’s University with a degree in political science. She was very active in her community, in particular with the Eagle Rock Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed her life. Her greatest strength was her determination.  Monique leaves behind her son Edward, Jr., with whom she shared nearly 13 years of memories, lessons, and fun. She also leaves behind her fiancé, Edward Esparza, (her son, Edward’s dad). The three of them loved to play guitar together.

Monique will be dearly missed by her son, fiancé, cousins, aunts and uncles, including one of whom she adored and referred to as her “Best Uncle David.”
