During the preview season now underway at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, the beloved theater company will put finishing touches on the stage, facade and other features of its new venue at 4949 York Boulevard in Highland Park. It’s all in preparation for the Grand Opening in November, when the company’s nearly 3,000 handcrafted puppets and 10 puppeteers will be officially “at home” in Highland Park after 55 years at their original location in Echo Park.

The first show of the Preview Season, running through Sunday, September 15, is Bob Baker’s Sketchbook Revue, a revival of the very first Bob Baker Marionette production in 1963. The second show of the season, from September 21 to November 3 is the Hallowe’en Spooktacular. Both productions are hour-long musical variety shows featuring over 100 marionettes.

Performances are held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with shows on Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Showtimes may vary, so double check the website at Bobbakermarionettetheater.com for times and to buy tickets. / Admission is $15. Children 2 and under are free.
